Certifications > Requirements
Recommended requirements include: 1) Training, 2)
Reading, and 3) Case Exercises. Following this you will
be able to take the online certification examination.
Training:
Training is required to understand the appropriate use
of the AMA Guides. Without structured education most
individuals have found it very difficult to apply the
Guides correctly. At least 16 hours of educational
content are required; with 6 hours of these obtained in
a structured learning environment (a live seminar,
either in person or web-based) and the remaining may be
obtained through other seminars or independent learning
experiences.
Training must be provided by an approved trainer, highly
experienced in the use of the AMA Guides.
AMA Guides Reading:
Read the following chapters in the AMA Guides to the
Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Fifth Edition prior
to taking the examination:
